高等研究所 訪問研究員 セミナー:
Professor GONZALEZ, Luis Millan “Judo instruction; how to teach Judo in Spain” (5/1)
主 旨 / Outline
Students will practice Judo. Judo is a sport of Japanese origin, but it has a very important international impact. The development of Judo outside of Japan began a long time ago, and in many cases, it has preserved the essence of the teaching of the Japanese teachers, but at the same time it has incorporated Western methods and customs that are of interest to academics who focus their work in the field of Judo.
This highly practical seminar is held on tatami with students of Waseda University. In this case, the students begin by learning Ukemi, a basic technique for protecting oneself and avoiding hitting one’s head in the event of a fall, which is a fundamental element in maintaining training safety and avoiding injury.
The main aim of the seminar is to show the teaching methods for safe falls in Europe. During the session, students will be able to experience how to learn Ukemi in the European style.

Biography:
I am a Full Professor at the Faculty of Sports Science, University of Valencia,
where I teach Judo in the Bachelor‘s program in Sports Science and Advanced
Statistics in the Research Master’s program. As a former member of the Spanish
National Judo Team, I have integrated my athletic experience into my academic
career. My research focuses on applying advanced analytical methods to sports
science. Using programming languages like MATLAB and LabVIEW, I have
conducted studies on biological and biomechanical signals, employing techniques
such as the Fast Fourier Transform and Wavelet Transform to analyze swimming,
human balance, and judo performance. I also specialize in neural networks, a
cutting-edge statistical tool for the social sciences. My multidisciplinary approach
has fostered impactful research and successful collaborations. My work
emphasizes making complex data analysis accessible, and bridging advanced
analytics with practical applications to drive innovation in sports science and
education.
