WIAS Visiting Researcher Seminar: “Relational aliveness — Feeling our way into systems design” by EllIS, Naoko and GLADWIN, Derek (10/29)

Abstract

We live in a time when planetary systems are simultaneously unraveling and re-forming, making relational approaches to systems design essential for navigating complex, interconnected challenges. This workshop explores relational aliveness as a co-design practice grounded in presence, collective sense-making, and attention to the web of relationships that shape people, systems, and ideas. Drawing on work from the Systems Beings Lab at the University of British Columbia, participants engage emotional, intellectual, and embodied dimensions of collaboration through dialogue, reflective exercises, and collaborative activities that treat discomfort and uncertainty as generative.
