Abstract
This seminar explores the future of higher education in East Asia, focusing on quality assurance, sustainability, and internationalization. Through comparative case studies of Taiwan, Japan, China, and South Korea, we will discuss how higher education institutions and their quality assurance systems respond to global changes, geopolitical tensions, and the post-COVID era. Additionally, the seminar will examine new opportunities in international collaboration, cross-border education, and university governance.
Dr. Wang Lizhou (Assistant Professor, WIAS) will serve as the moderator and discussant, leading an interactive discussion with the audience.

Speaker
Dr. Yung-Chi Hou is a Professor in the Department of Education at National Chengchi University, Taiwan. Her research interests center on higher education policy, quality assurance, internationalization, cross-border tertiary education, and East Asian higher education studies. She has held several key administrative roles at National Chengchi University, including Associate Dean of the College of Education and Special Assistant to the President.
Furthermore, Dr. Hou has served in prominent leadership positions within international quality assurance networks, notably as Executive Director of the Higher Education Evaluation and Accreditation Council of Taiwan (HEEACT), Vice President of the Asia Pacific Quality Network (APQN), and Board Member and Vice President of the International Network for Quality Assurance Agencies in Higher Education (INQAAHE). Currently, she is the President of the Chinese Taipei Comparative Education Society, a member of the editorial board for Quality in Higher Education, and an Associate Editor for Asia Pacific Education Review. She continues to be a leading voice in research on higher education governance and international collaboration in East Asia.
