Visiting Researcher Seminar: Middle leaders in New Zealand schools: Mastery, muddle and mystery(10/31)
Details
In Aotearoa NZ, primary and secondary school middle leaders encompass a large and diverse group of educators who, in addition to their classroom teaching, provide pedagogical and pastoral leadership and fulfil various administrative functions. While the Ministry of Education acknowledges that middle leadership roles provide a staircase to senior leadership, they also adjudge these as career destinations in their own right. The absence of empirical research raises the question of how various middle leader roles are conceived, enacted and evaluated. This seminar presents the design of a national survey of primary and secondary school middle leaders conducted early this year.
