WIAS Visiting Researcher Seminar:
Professor HALOG, Anthony “Circular Economy and Business Models in Greening the Manufacturing Industry via IoT/AI/Big Data” (5/22)
Abstract
The Internet of Things (IoT), Artificial Intelligence (AI), and Big Data can play a significant role in promoting circular business models and a circular economy in the manufacturing industry. By incorporating these technologies, companies can optimize resource consumption, reduce waste, and enhance supply chain efficiency. IoT devices can collect data on resource utilization and product performance, while AI and Big Data can analyse this data to identify opportunities for optimization and circularity. This can lead to closed-loop material flows, where waste is minimized, and products are reused, refurbished, or recycled. Ultimately, the use of IoT, AI, and Big Data in manufacturing can contribute to the sustainable use of resources, reduce carbon emissions, and promote a more circular economy.
