主 旨 / Outline

“Implications and Determinants of the Contemporary Cross-Shareholding in Japan”

In the wake of Abenomics, we measure the effects of the new corporate governance code on cross-shareholding in Japan using the policy shareholding report.
Our results suggest that the corporate governance code has increased the number of decision to sell shares and not whole assets.
Moreover, firms with strong inter corporate relationships are less likely to sell, i.e. when firm A holds shares in firm B and vice versa.
