This is the first session of the workshop on the use of eye-tracking devices in social science research. The session will focus on data collection using such devices, covering the following aspects:
Introduction to Eye-tracking Technologies
・Types of devices (desktop/mobile/VR-bsed)
・Principles of eye movement measurement (fixations, saccades, gaze points, etc.)
・ Research questions and theoretical models suited for eye-tracking
Designing and Implementing Data Collection with Eye-Tracking Devices
・ Stimulus presentation and timing
・Controlling for confounds (lighting, distance, calibration)
・Calibration and validation procedures
Further Practical Aspects
・Ethical aspects and informed consent
・Data storage formats and metadata
