高等研究所 訪問研究員 セミナー: Leading in context: Duality not dichotomy(10/23)
詳 細/ Details
Empirical understanding of the dynamic interplay between leadership and context requires ongoing research, yet much of the extant literature reveals static, fragmentary glimpses of the ways in which these components interact at particular points in time. In this seminar, I examine the nuanced manner in which five New Zealand secondary school principals experienced leadership during a three-year engagement with Te Kotahitanga, a reform Initiative proven to reduce disparities in educational achievement. Findings demonstrate that leading counter-hegemonic change is a situated, complex and demanding undertaking, the intensity of which eludes much of the leadership and change literature. This makes Bourdieu’s lens on practice as a temporal, embodied, discursive and social activity an important heuristic through which to view the holism of change leadership.
