
The 2024 edition of “Scholarship Information Challenge” is being distributed at each faculty office and can be downloaded from Scholarships and Financial Assistance Section website.
Waseda University offers over 250 types of Scholarship, including its own internal Scholarship, Japan Student Services Organization (JASSO) Scholarship, and Scholarship from private organizations and local governments. Among them, Waseda's unique internal Scholarship (average annual payment: approximately 400,000 yen) are all "benefits" type Scholarship that do not require repayment, and there are approximately 150 types.
In 2022, a total of 12,878 students (27.9% of eligible students) received some kind of Scholarship. In addition, 52.3% of these Scholarship that do not require repayment, making us proud of the scale of the scholarships, which are among the top private universities (total scholarship expenses for fiscal year 2022: approximately 3.5 billion yen).
To apply for Scholarship, you must first complete "Spring Scholarship Registration." The spring 2024 registration period runs from February 1st to March 15th. Documents related to family income and income are also required for Scholarship registration. Please check the process and prepare thoroughly before applying.

What kind of scholarships are available?
Waseda University students can apply for the following four Scholarship systems. There are two types scholarships: grant-type scholarships that do not require repayment, and loan-type scholarships that require repayment after graduation.Furthermore, the annual amount received and selection criteria differ depending on each Scholarship system. scholarships provided by the University include the Okuma Memorial Scholarship, which is selected based on academic performance, and the Ono Azusa Memorial Scholarship (for current students), which aims to support students in financial need. However, we strongly recommend that you register Scholarship with the possibility of receiving other Scholarship.
When should I apply?
The period for "Scholarship Scholarship held twice a year in the spring and summer, but most Scholarship are selected in the spring. Please register Scholarship in the spring if possible. The registration method and period for applying for Scholarship for graduate students differ depending on each graduate school. Please be sure to refer to the "Scholarship Information Challenge for Graduate School Students" scheduled to be distributed at each graduate school office in early February 2024. If you are currently enrolled in Waseda University's undergraduate program and will be entering Waseda's graduate school from April 2024, please register for Scholarship as new students, not as an undergraduate student. Scholarship registration for graduate students is only available in the spring.
About international students

For international students, almost all Scholarship both on-campus and off-campus, are in the form of grants. The application method for international student Scholarship differs depending on the faculty and graduate school you belong to. In some cases, you may register for Scholarship using MyWaseda application form, or you may not register Scholarship and receive information on Scholarship that are available to you individually.
