Waseda University’s Health Promotion: The Joy of Sports and Exercise Unit (Top Global University) invited Dr. Sebastian Uhrich of German Sports University Cologne for an online seminar entitled “Sport Innovation – App-based innovations to increase the in-stadium experience”.
Before the lecture, Prof. Hirotaka Matsuoka (Faculty of Sport Sciences, Waseda University) introduced Dr. Uhrich’s career and research.
The lecture focused on innovations in technologies such as artificial intelligence, 5G, OTT services, extended reality and blockchain. Dr Uhrich spoke for more than an hour about the results of his research, including the response to the use of apps (to enhance the stadium experience) and the factors preventing the use of these technologies when watching sports.
The lecture was followed by a question and answer session. The questions and opinions of about 20 participants, including students from the University and researchers from inside and outside the University, were answered in detail, exceeding the scheduled time and making for a very useful time.
