Reflections on the Impact of Technology on Relations of Peace and War: The Israeli–Iranian Case as a Model
Prof. Abdullah Yousef Sahar Mohammad
Professor of International Relations at Kuwait University
Nov 5, 17:30-19:00
Waseda University Building 3, Room 304
This majlis aims to open an academic discussion on an emerging topic in the field of political science, focusing on the expanding influence of information and communication technologies in shaping patterns of international relations among political actors, both state and non-state.
This influence is not limited to theoretical and conceptual dimensions that have led to the rise of a new paradigm and a reconsideration of traditional political theories. It also extends to the practical and operational aspects that define interactions among states and other influential entities within the rapidly evolving virtual international system.
As an illustrative case, our guest speaker will examine the Israeli–Iranian context, particularly during the Twelve-Day War, which reveals the deep interconnection between informational, intelligence, and technological institutions on the one hand, and military and diplomatic operations on the other.
Analyzing this case opens new horizons for understanding the relationship between technology and politics, and raises critical questions about how the concepts of peace and war are being redefined in the digital age.
