Research Summary
The current National Curriculum Standards encourages school course improvements aimed at realizing the goals of “proactive, interactive and authentic learning.” We have been conducting collaborative research with the local community regarding the implementation of classes and the development of teaching materials that young students find interesting and enjoyable, where they can discover and resolve issues through their own ideas and engagement. Currently, we are continuing our collaboration with the Arakawa City Board of Education and the Smile Project Co., Ltd. This Project includes model outreach classes and the development of educational materials for science experiments, programming education, consumer education and art education. We are investigating strategies to improve education via collaborations with the local community, with the aim of holding classes that young students enjoy and engage in proactively.
These efforts also include developing teaching materials and teacher training. We will also continue to support the planning and judging of science contests implemented by the board of education.
