Research Summary
The Institute is promoting research and development with the themes of (1) human coexistence and (2) medical welfare.
(1) Human and robot coexistence
In order to use humanoids in the field of sports, we aim to achieve basic athletic movements in a number of sports (jumping, running, throwing, lifting heavy objects). Furthermore, we will conduct experiments on sports movements using humanoids to change the size and speed of movements, and develop a method for deriving human movement strategies using humanoids.
(2) Medical and welfare
We will develop a patient robot system that acts as an interface between trainers and skilled practitioners during clinical training. We will also establish a method of providing feedback to trainees on the movements, intentions and perceptions of skilled practitioners, while promoting the practical application of patient robot systems for reproducing cases and evaluating techniques. Through the development of these systems, we will verify their potential for application in future remote medical education and the transfer of skills in other fields. In the field of robotics, we have been introducing and implementing system integration that leads to current AI and IoT, such as artificial neural networks, genetic algorithms, and remote mutual connection of multiple robots
and operators via the Internet, for nearly 30 years, and we would like to make use of this experience in this field as well. The reason for establishing the institute with the same name is that, over the past 24 years, the presence of the Humanoid Robotics Institute and its members has become extremely high among robot researchers around the world.
Until now, the institute has developed greatly with the addition of new members with each new application, and although there have been some changes in the direction of the purpose of establishing new projects, from now on, we are determined to promote
research and development activities for human coexistence and support robots that support activities on behalf of or in collaboration with humans in various fields, including space, as well as the issues of global warming and an aging society. we are determined to continue our research and development activities on human coexistence and support robots that can work on behalf of, or in collaboration with, humans in various fields, including space, where humans live, work and develop. We would like to continue to use the name of the project of the Humanoid Robotics Institute, which has become well known on a global level.
