Associate Protection Officer, United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) Slovakia

Graduated from SILS, Waseda University, following some years of working as well as graduation from a baking school. M.A. in Human Security from the University of Tokyo, currently enrolled in Ph.D program of the same university.

Working for the UNHCR since 2013. Currently working with UNHCR in Slovakia due to emergency response for Ukrainian crisis, after working for UNHCR in Nigeria (2019-2022), Bosnia and Herzegovina (2016-2018), and Japan (2013-2016).

Oi, Koichi

Protection Delegate at Bouar Sub-Delegation of the ICRC, Central African Republic.

Koichi has worked for the protection of the civilian population and the persons deprived of liberty in the situation of armed conflicts, as well as the promotion of the international humanitarian law across Bouar (CAR), Eastern Mindanao (Philippines) and Maiduguri (Nigeria) since March 2019. Prior to joining the ICRC, he worked in an international NGO, implementing various projects for South Sudanese refugees in camps in Uganda and Ethiopia.

LL.M International Law and Human Rights from the Hebrew University of Jerusalem. LL.B from Waseda University. Currently studying in Diplôme UniversitaireTransfrontalier de Droit International Humanitaire in University Côte d’Azur.
