2007年、ドイツ・ハンブルク大学にて博士号（言語学）を取得。
早稲田大学政治経済学部専任講師、准教授を経て2009年より現職。
研究テーマは話しことばにおけるパラ言語情報と音声、学習者による音声習得。
主にドイツ語の心態詞と呼ばれる語と音声とのかかわりを中心に研究を行っている。近年はドイツ・ベルリン自由大学、ミュンスター大学の研究者たちと「韻律的特徴と語用論」Prosodie und Pragmatik(ProsPrag)という国際共同研究プロジェクトを進めている。
2025年5月、一般社団法人日本独文学会会長に就任。

Miki Ikoma is a Professor of Political Science and Economics at Waseda University. She was awarded a Doctorate in Linguistics from the University of Hamburg, Germany, in 2007.
She was appointed Lecturer and later Associate Professor at the Faculty of Political Science and Economics, Waseda University, before assuming her current position in 2009.
Her research focuses on paralinguistic information and phonetics in spoken language, with particular emphasis on learner phonetic acquisition. A central area of her work is the relationship between German modal particles and phonetics. In recent years, she has led the international collaborative research project “Prosody and Pragmatics” (ProsPrag) in cooperation with scholars at Freie Universität Berlin and the University of Münster.
In May 2025, she assumed the role of President of the Japanese Association for German Studies.
Her principal publication is Prosodische Eigenschaften der deutschen Modalpartikeln (2007, Verlag Dr. Kovac).
