東京学芸大学附属高校・東京大学教養学部国際関係論分科卒業、同大学院国際関係論専攻修士課程修了・博士課程単位取得退学、オックスフォード大学大学院国際関係論専攻M.Litt.（修士号）・D.Phil.（博士号）取得、神戸大学法学部助手・助教授、同大学院国際協力研究科助教授、上智大学外国語学部助教授を経て、2007年より現職。専門は、戦後日英東南アジア関係史、戦後イギリス文化外交、英帝国下の人の国際移動など。この間、阪神淡路大震災後の兵庫県の多文化共生研究なども行う。
After graduating from the University of Tokyo (Faculty of Liberal Arts, International Relations Subdivision), she completed Master’s course in International Relations at both University of Tokyo and University of Oxford, and obtained D.Phil. (Ph.D.) degree from the University of Oxford. After teaching International History and International Migration as associate professor at Kobe University and Sophia University, she became Professor in the field of Transnational Relations at the SPSE, Waseda in 2007. Her main field of research is postwar Anglo-Japanese-Southeast Asian relations, British cultural diplomacy, international migration within the British Empire, etc. She also pursued research on multicultural relations in post-earthquake Kobe.
