Prior to joining Waseda, Similan was an Assistant Professor at the Department of Economics, Aarhus University in Denmark.
He is also a research associate at the Centre for Macroeconomics in the UK.
He completed his PhD in economics from University College London in 2017.
His research fields are in macroeconomics, search and matching, and labour economics.
His current research focuses on labour market dynamics, labour market policies, and the business cycles.
