セドン ジャック Jack Seddon - 略歴/Short Bio
2019年に早稲田大学に着任。国際政治経済学と経済史の交差点に位置する分野で、制度論の理論と混合研究法を用いて研究を行っている。オックスフォード大学で博士号を取得し、ペンシルベニア大学（University of Pennsylvania）、ジュネーブ大学院（Graduate Institute）、欧州大学院（European University Institute）、ジョージタウン大学（Georgetown University）で客員研究員を務めた経験を持つ。英国経済社会研究評議会（ESRC）の助成による「スターリング地域再訪プロジェクト（Sterling Area Revisited Project）」に参加しており、2019～2020年には、グローバルリスク市場の課題を検討するため、ロイズ・オブ・ロンドン英米フルブライト奨学金を授与された。大学院進学前には、ロンドンおよびブリュッセルで資本市場弁護士として勤務していた。現在は、自身の研究に加えて、学生たちが現代の多くのグローバルな課題に対して考え、積極的に関与することを促すことにも情熱を注いでいる。グローバル経済ガバナンス、国際政治経済、あるいはその他の課題領域におけるトランスナショナル・ガバナンスに関心を持つ政治学分野の大学院生を広く求めている。
I joined Waseda in 2019. I work at the intersection between international political economy and economic history, employing theories of institutionalism and mixed research methods. I received my Ph.D. from the University of Oxford. I have held visiting positions at the University of Pennsylvania, the Graduate Institute in Geneva, the European University Institute, and Georgetown University. I am part of the Sterling Area Revisited Project, funded by the United Kingdom Economic and Social Research Council (ESRC). I was awarded a Lloyd’s of London UK-US Fulbright Scholarship in 2019-2020 to examine issues in global risk markets. Before beginning my graduate studies, I worked as a capital markets lawyer in London and Brussels. In addition to my own research, I hope to inspire students to think about – and engage with – the many global challenges that we now face. I seek graduate students interested in the field of political science with a focus on global economic governance, international political economy, or transnational governance in other issue areas.
