Message to Prospective Students

Professor Hisashi Takeuchi (or Hisashi Takeuchi-Okuno in academic writing) began his academic career as a research associate at the graduate schools of law and politics at the University of Tokyo immediately after obtaining a Bachelor of Laws degree from the same university in 1999.
After having taught at Rikkyo University, he joined Waseda University in 2013. He has been teaching Japanese labor and employment law course at Waseda LLM since the program’s inception in 2018.
Professor Takeuchi’s discipline is labor and employment law, especially labor law. His research topics include, among others, the definition of “employee,” i.e., the personal scope of application of labor and employment law, and the system of employee representation, based on a comparative analysis of Japanese law and the U.S. law.
