Message to Prospective Students

I am a professor of law at the Graduate School of Law, Waseda University. After obtaining my Master’s degree at the Graduate School of the University of Tokyo, I studied at the London School of Economics (LSE), University of London, for two years and obtained an LL.M. degree. Then I returned to Tokyo to complete my doctorate and acquired my Ph.D. degree from the University of Tokyo in 1991.
I have taught European Union law, British Constitutional and Administrative law, Comparative law, Introduction Associate Professor of Law, Institute of Social Science, University of Tokyo (1996 – 2006) Professor of Law, Faculty of Law, Seikei University, Tokyo (1999 – 1999) Associate Professor of Law, Seikei University, Tokyo (1991 – 1999) to Japanese law, and International Environmental law as a tenured professor in various universities, including Seikei University (1991 – 1999), the University of Tokyo (1999 – 2010), and currently Waseda University (2010 – present). In addition, I have been invited to teach abroad, including Oxford University (UK), KU Leuven (Belgium), Venice International University (Italy), and Tsinghua University (China).
Currently at Waseda Graduate School of Law, I am teaching mainly comparative law subjects, including comparative regionalism and transnational regulation of global markets.
I like teaching, especially in the form of discussion, and am currently keen on researching the theme of sustainability and law. In my spare time, I sing in a choir, wishing to go to heaven eventually in peace!
