Choosing Waseda is the best choice -Liu Jia

From People’s Republic of China

Name

LIU, Jia

Where are you from?

I came from China.

Where did you graduate from?

I graduated from the School of Law, Waseda University.

LL.M. Waseda University

What do you think about Waseda University/ Waseda LL.M.?

The international reputation of Waseda University is a obvious, many of Chinese eminent politicians graduate from Waseda.
Here I meet the top-class professors, and learn so much in the classes.
I have been spending nearly 5 years of my 20’s at Waseda, and I appreciate the experience. It’s not only about knowledge, it’s about forming my values at a young age.

LL.M. course is famous for its intensity around the world, and it is the same at Waseda. The course offers extremely solid foundations for students who will do law business mixture work in the future. I am pretty sure that I am learning something I will actually use in my future career. Also, students in LL.M. course come from 11 countries in the world. Amazing cultural diversity is another attractive point for me.

How is your life as a student at Waseda?

My student life at Waseda is abundant, school facilities are wonderful. University library has got marvelous collection of books , I found so many books which are out of print.
Besides we go to activities such as the baseball game, which is know as “Sokeisen”, supporting our school team.

How do you like the LL.M. faculty?

Waseda LL.M. faculty is really global, we have students from EU, ASEAN countries, as well as Asian countries and North America.
People come from different backgrounds, students may have different view on the same topic, and that gives me a lot of inspiration.
About the classes, there are broad range of fields offered, so it is easy to find your interested field.
And the academic atmosphere is international and open, it’s a perfect environment to learn and research.

How are you adjusting to life in and around Tokyo?

I have been in Tokyo for many years before, but coming back from China 4 years after graduating from School of Law is still challenging.
However, Tokyo is quite convenient, it did not take long to adjust my life here. Now I live in a rent flat.

How do you spend your free time?

Besides part time job, my free time is used for playing violin, painting and reading. Also I do sports at a certain pace.

Please, write a short message for future LL.M. students!

Choosing Waseda is the best choice I have ever made so far, I did not hesitate about applying when I saw Waseda would have LL.M. course. Expanding your horizons is possible here. Looking forward to having you as our alumni!
