【Thursday, March 7, 2024】English Academic Writing Roundtable

Waseda University Research Institute for Letters, Arts and Sciences (RILAS) is organizing English Academic Writing Roundtable on Thursday, March 7, 2024. This event is primarily intended for early career researchers who wish to actively publish their research results in English. We will invite panelists who have published academic books or articles in English to share their experiences. Participants can ask questions directly to the panelists in an informal atmosphere. This event is recommended for researchers who are considering publishing their research results in English in the future but have little or no experience yet, or who would like to learn more about the process and approaches to book publishing and article publication.

Panelists

Chika Takahashi (Associate Professor, Faculty of Law and Letters, Ehime University)
Ph.D. in Second Language Studies, Department of Second Language Studies, University of Hawaii at Manoa.
Her research interests include second language motivation and second language self-instruction. She is the author of Motivation to Learn Multiple Languages in Japan: A Longitudinal Perspective (Multilingual Matters).

Izumi Yamazaki (Associate Professor, Faculty of International Social Sciences, Gakushuin University)
Ph.D. in Economics and Education, M. Phil. in Economics and Education
Her research interests include African regional studies with a focus on education policy. Her research findings have been widely published in international journals including World Development.

Tomoko Yashima (Professor Emerita, Kansai University)
Ph.D. in Cultural Sciences, Okayama University
Her expertise spans applied linguistics and intercultural communication studies. Major publications include: ‘Intercultural Communication Theory: Global Mind and Local Affect’ (co-authored with Mayumi Kubota, Shoikasha), ‘The Psychology of Foreign Language Learning and Communication’ (Seki University Press), etc. International Journal of Intercultural Relations, Psychological Reports, Modern Language Journal, System, etc. International Journal of Intercultural Relations, Psychological Reports, Modern Language Journal, System and many other international journal articles and book chapters.
