  • Biography:
    Hidenori Jinno’s research focuses on classical Japanese literature, particularly that of the Heian period (794-1185). His research focuses on Monogatari Literature, including the Genji monogatari (The Tale of Genji). He has published two books on the Genji monogatari and one on the Tsutsumi Chūnagon monogatari, a collection of short stories from the late Heian period. On the other hand, he is also interested in issues related to the study of Kokubungaku in modern era, and has written a book on Fujioka Sakutarō (1870-1910), a leading scholar of Japanese literature in the late Meiji period. He has also been involved in the editing of a number of other collections of essays. He also participated in the annotation series of Genji monogatari published by Shibundō, and was an editorial collaborator on Iwanami Bunko’s Genji monogatari (9 volumes, 2017-2021), including ‘Yūgao’, ‘Wakamurasaki’, ‘Wakana no ge’, ‘Niou Hyōbukyō’, ‘ Kōbai’, ‘Takekawa’, and ‘Azumaya’ chapters. He received his B.A. in Western Philosophy from Waseda University, his M.A. in Japanese Literature from the same university, and his Ph. He was also a Guest Researcher at the Université Paris Cité in 2024.
