Since 2022, the Yanai Initiative has been providing support through the Waseda University Graduate School of Letters, Arts, and Sciences to advanced graduate students whose research focuses on the Japanese humanities. The Yanai Initiative Scholarship is awarded annually to a Waseda Ph.D. student with a proven interest in participating in academic discourse outside Japan.
