Regarding Academic Background Verification

At our university, current students and graduates (including those who withdrew) can designate any email address to have certificates sent directly from our certificate issuing system. For academic background verification during job applications or similar situations, please use this system for direct certificate delivery. Certificates submitted by methods other than direct delivery can also be verified for authenticity by the recipient using the “CheckCode” printed in the lower left corner of the certificate. For academic background inquiries, we request that you use one of these methods as a general rule.

If the above measures prove difficult, we will only verify the authenticity of the information contained within certificates submitted by current students or graduates (including those who withdrew). Please gather all of the following documents and send them to our school via email.

1. Copies of certificates issued by this university submitted by current students, graduates, or those who withdrew from the Graduate School of Japanese Applied Linguistics (hereinafter referred to as “our graduate, etc.”) (excluding degree certificates)
2. A copy of identification documents (e.g., passport) for our graduate, etc.
3. A signed consent form for personal information disclosure, handwritten by our graduate, etc., containing the following statement:
・The graduate, etc., shall bear full responsibility for all outcomes arising from this procedure, and Waseda University shall bear no liability whatsoever.
4. A copy of identification documents (e.g., employee ID) for the representative of the inquiring company, organization, agent, etc.

We will only respond regarding the authenticity of the information stated on the certificate if all documents listed in items 1 through 4 above are complete. If there are deficiencies or doubts regarding the documents, or for reasons related to personal information protection, we may not respond or may require additional time to respond. Waseda University shall not be held liable for any disadvantageous treatment suffered by graduates of this graduate school or others as a result of this.

We can only assist graduates of the Graduate School of Japanese Applied Lingustics. We will not respond to inquiries regarding graduates from other faculties or graduate schools (due to personal information protection regulations, we will not provide guidance on the correct faculty or graduate school either).
