About the school

History

1988 “Center of Japanese Language”, the predecessor of the current
Center for Japanese Lanuage: CJL , was established.
2001 Graduate School of Japanese Applied Linguistics was established (master’s program with a Japanese language education major). – First graduate school with an applied Japanese linguistics program in Japan.
April 2003 Doctoral program was established.
May 2003 Anniversary symposium for the establishment of the doctoral program of “Japanese language education in the future” was held.
March 2005 1st meeting of academic conference for Teaching Japanese of Waseda University was held.
May 2006 Anniversary symposium for the establishment of the doctoral program (graduates of first period) of “What is Japanese lanuage education? – Aiming at independence and disciplinary of Japanese language education” was held.
May 2011 10th Anniversary symposium was held.
