Research Collection Stacks

The Research Collection Stacks Open to:
  • Waseda University faculty, staff, graduate students, undergraduate students and Library Card (Green/ Blue) holders.
  • Researchers who belong to universities or institutes beside Waseda University, please contact us beforehand about the possibility to use the Research Collection Stacks at the following email address: [email protected]
Opening Days and Hours
  • From 13:00 to 17:00 on Mondays, Tuesdays and Fridays (Entry into the stacks, borrowing and returning possible until 16:45)
    (generally closed on National Holidays and WIHL closing days)
  • Please see the official WIHL calendar to confirm dates the Research Collection Stacks will be open.
Capacity
  • 6 people
Check-in
  • Show your university ID card, library card or Research Collection Stacks Entrance Card at the service desk on the first floor.
    *Research Collection Stacks Entrance Cards are valid only during the same academic year. Card issuance and renewal can be handled only during opening hours of the Research Collection Stacks.
  • Please place your belongings in one of the lockers inside the Stacks. Only note-taking materials and valuables are allowed to be taken into the Research Collection Stacks.
Borrowing
  • Waseda University faculty, staff, graduate students and Library Card (Green/ Blue) holders can check out some of the library materials.
  • Waseda University undergraduate students, on the condition that they are currently undertaking research for a graduation thesis, and they have a letter of introduction from their Waseda University full-time faculty advisor, can check out some of the library materials. Please apply at the service desk.
Returning
  • Library materials must be returned to the service desk by the due date.
  • Return Anywhere Service and Returning by mail service are not available at the WIHL.
Special Collections
Photocopying
  • Copies can be made with the copy machine in accordance with Article 31 of the Copyright Act(Reproduction in libraries, etc.).
    (Only coins can be used. Exchange for small coins is not available. We are unable to issue receipts. Copying services may be suspended without notice due to equipment malfunctions.)
  • “Articles about Haruki Murakami” materials may not be copied.
Policies and Restrictions
  • In order to protect research materials, please refrain from using writing utensils that use permanent ink ( ballpoint pens, fountain pens etc.).
  • Please refrain from talking on the phone.
  • Photography and filming is not allowed in the Research Collection Stacks.
