The Waseda University Top Global University Initiative and the Center for Positive/Empirical Analysis of Political Economy hosted the Tokyo-Taipei-Seoul Macroeconomics Network 1st Workshop from February 1 to 2, 2024. This workshop brought together 37 participants from Taiwan, Korea, and Japan, including 10 graduate students and 5 undergraduate students.  We’d like to share the following event report:

The workshop featured a comprehensive program with a total of 14 presentations, including 2 presentations by graduate students. The topics covered a broad spectrum of macroeconomic issues, such as macroeconomic implications of the labor market, macro-finance term structure models, economic growth in relation to R&D and foreign equity investment, business cycles and inequality, borrowing and lending behavior, the behavior of gamble winners from the bank-account data, exchange rate dynamics, the relation between capital accumulation and technology adaption, and medical costs in the overlapping generation model.

All participants actively engaged in discussions on the diverse range of topics presented during the workshop. There were also constructive comments provided for early-stage projects, showcasing a collaborative and supportive atmosphere. Participants also exchanged their ideas for potential collaborative works during coffee breaks and the lunch reception.

The workshop served as a platform for robust academic exchange, fostering collaboration among young researchers and students. The organizers express their gratitude to all participants for their valuable contributions.
