Health Promotion: The Joy of Sports and Exercise Unit will be offering a new online course on edX starting in March 2022.
The online course “Sport Safety: A Guide to Preventing Sudden Death in Sport” will focus on sudden death during sports activities. It is unfortunate that there is no end to the news of apparently healthy young people dying during sporting activities that are meant to be enjoyed. In order to reduce the number of such accidents, this lecture will cover the basics of sports safety that anyone involved in sports (leaders, educators, parents, medical professionals, athletic trainers, etc.) should know. Associate Professor Hosokawa, who is in charge of this course, is certified as an Athletic Trainer (ATC) in the United States. She also has practical clinical experience in the U.S. and supported the Tokyo 2020 Olympic and Paralympic Games as an advisor on heat-related measures.
