In the movie, Professor Tago states that when he was in junior high school, he read the biography of the former United Nations Secretary-General, “Champion of world peace: Dag Hammarskjöld” by Levine, Israel E (New York, J. Messner), which motivated him to devote himself to this kind of research field.
Currently, Professor Tago not only teaches at Waseda University, but also engages in peacekeeping studies as a Global Fellow of Oslo Peace Research Institute (PIRO), a private organization in Oslo.
As he mentioned in the video, he has been working on how psychological studies can be applied to scientific peace research by using social science experimental techniques to solve the problems underlying among the Asia Pacific area. The latest technology, like a compact eye tracker, was used in his experiments. Laboratory equipment was upgraded to improve the research and teaching facilities of the graduate school by the Center for Positive/Empirical Analysis of Political Economy.
Professor Tago is now hosting the WE-SPICE2021 six-session series and aims to teach the importance of empirical research for the realization of world peace not only to researchers but also to students at large.
