Advances in Computational FSI and Flow Simulation 2019 Features Many Leading-Edge Researchers

Advances in Computational Fluid–Structure Interaction (FSI) and Flow Simulation 2019 (AFSI 2019), held in Okinawa, Japan on June 24–26, 2019, featured many speakers with leading-edge research. The conference was partially sponsored by Unit for Multiscale Analysis, Modeling and Simulation, Top Global University Project, Waseda University. AFSI 2019, fourth conference in the AFSI series, was dedicated to Tayfun E. Tezduyar (James F. Barbour Professor of Mechanical Engineering, Rice University and Joint Appointment Professor, Waseda University). The earlier conferences in the series were held in Tokyo (2014), Istanbul (2015) and Banff (2018).

Members of Unit for Multiscale Analysis, Modeling and Simulation had a strong showing at AFSI 2019. Takashi Kuraishi, Yuto Otoguro, Takafumi Sasaki, Yoshihiro Shibata, Kenji Takizawa, Takuya Terahara and Tayfun Tezduyar gave presentations on their leading-edge research. Other FSI and flow simulation researchers presenting their leading-edge work included Narayan Aluru (University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign), Yuri Bazilevs (Brown University), Alessio Castorrini (University of Rome), J.S. Chen (University of California San Diego), Alessandro Corsini (University of Rome), Ming-Chen Hsu (Iowa State University), Thomas J.R. Hughes (University of Texas at Austin), Artem Korobenko (University of Calgary), Chao-An Lin (National Tsing Hua University), Miriam Mehl (University of Stuttgart), Hirofumi Notsu (Kanazawa University), Franco Rispoli (University of Rome) and Jinhui Yan (University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign).
