On December 19th, The Positive/Empirical Analyses of the Political Economy Unit at Waseda University as a Top Global University Project hosted an international workshop entitled “The Effect of Home Country Bribery on Seeking Foreign Market Opportunities: The Case of Firms in Transition Economies” Associate Professor Seung-Hyun Lee from University of Texas. He is one of the leading scholars of Strategic Management and International Management.

Prof. Lee reported that bribery in the home country reduces a firm’s focus on foreign markets. Also, the negative effect is strengthened for new ventures and is weakened by the competitive pressure from informal economy.
Additionally, Prof. Lee’s teaching seminars for Ph.D students were conducted for three days.
