According to the QS Graduate Employability Rankings 2017 published on November 24, Waseda ranked No.1 once again for graduate employability in Japan. Furthermore, it listed No.26 worldwide, moving up seven spots from last year.
The ranking is calculated from measures of reputation among employers, alumni outcomes, partnerships with employers, employers’ presence on campus and graduate employment rates. The result shows Waseda’s success in relationships with employers in research and other projects, as well as exceptional performance of its graduates.
Waseda is the top university in Japan for graduate employability for the second year in a row, and 6th in Asia. Measuring the success of Waseda graduates, the rankings are also an objective evaluation of the various efforts made by the University following the Waseda Vision 150 strategic plan. One of the plan’s major goals is to foster global leaders. Specifically, the University aims to double the number of international students to 10,000 and have all of its students study abroad before graduation. To educate and guide the leaders of tomorrow, Waseda University is dedicated to making innovative reforms as leading university in Asia.
The rankings reflect the success of Waseda Graduates
Comments from Waseda University President Kaoru Kamata
The QS Graduate Employability Rankings 2017 listed Waseda as No.1 again in Japan and raised its standing to 26th in the world, up from No.33 last year.
In addition to “Independence of Learning” and “Practical Utilization of Knowledge,” “Good Citizenship” is one of the founding principles of Waseda University. The University is committed to fostering enlightened citizens of altruistic nature who will be active in and contribute to society at large.
I believe the result of the QS Graduate Employability Rankings of this year reflects the success of many Waseda graduates fulfilling that mission.
