Gender and Sexuality Specialty Staff at the GS Center
Hello folx! I’m Akané Kousaka, and I joined the Gender and Sexuality Center as one of the Specialty Staff in May, 2021. I provide counseling support in English and Japanese to Waseda students who want to speak individually with staff with knowledge and experience in the LGBTQ+ issues and SOGIESC issues.
Prior to joining the GS Center, I have worked in the United States as a clinical social worker and a mental health therapist, providing therapy to LGBTQ+ youth of color and their families. As a counselor, I believe in the strengths and power of the clients and their communities. I listen and support the person to become who they want to become, and live the life they want to live.
