Exchange Class with Special Subsidiary Company’s Employees was held

On December 9, 2019, the first exchange class between employees of Waseda University’s special subsidiary company, Waseda University Polaris Inc., and students of Professor Masahiko Genma’s seminar in the School of Social Sciences. The class featured video footage of employees utilizing their individuality and aptitude as they engage in various duties, such as cleaning, sorting mail, and data entry. By asking questions and learning about the employees’ duties, students deepened their understanding  regarding  the importance of the employment of people with disabilities by the University that always pursues  diversity and social inclusion.

The class was a valuable learning opportunity for both groups. One student commented, “I learned disabled individuals are tasked with important work that demands precision; I respect them and am grateful for their amazing focus and dedication,” and an employee said, “I was able to see my work in a new light.”
