Forum Invites Women Leaders from Gulf Countries

On November 20, 2019, Japan Cooperation Center Petroleum (JCCP), in collaboration with Waseda University, hosted the 10th Friendship Committee for Women Career Development Open Forum at the Conference Room of Building 63, Nishiwaseda Campus. The forum was based on the theme of  “Diversity Management in Gulf Oil-Producing Countries and Japan — Message toward the future.”

The forum welcomed many women leaders from gulf countries, including Minister of State Maitha Salem Al Shamsi  of the oil-producing country United Arab Emirates (UAE). Other guests included women leaders from Japan’s petroleum refinement and chemical industries, who gave speeches and joined panel discussions featuring lively exchanges about promoting women’s active involvement.

Before the forum, Waseda University Vice President Professor Masahiko Genma (Faculty of Social Sciences); Professor Masahiko Matsukata (Faculty of Science and Engineering), who served as moderator; and Director of Office for Promotion of Equality and Diversity, Professor Chiharu Tokoro (Faculty of Science and Engineering), engaged in an informal discussion with the UAE Minister of State.
