Basic Seminar to Learn How to Balance Work and Nursing Care was held

In order to allow as many staff and faculty as possible to participate, the seminar, held at Ibuka Hall, was streamed live at venues on the Nishiwaseda, Tokorozawa, Honjo, and Kitakyushu campuses.

On October 29, 2019, the University held a seminar on the basics of balancing work and nursing care.
The seminar invited an instructor from Pasona Life Care Inc., who explained the public nursing care insurance system and the current situation surrounding nursing care. She also gave advice regarding how to prepare mentally and provided examples of how to balance nursing care with work.

Voice of the participant

I teach home economics at the Waseda University Senior and Junior High School, and I attended this seminar not only to prepare myself for my own future, but also to learn about the public nursing care insurance system — a kind of system which supports citizens —and to incorporate this information into my teaching.

What I realized at this seminar is that, although legal reforms have changed systems in order to accommodate society’s diverse needs, each individual’s needs have not been met, and types of care differ depending on the attributes of those qualified as care managers. Although it’s not adequate to simply learn about the systems, and, furthermore, the handling of personal information makes matters complicated, learning about examples can mentally prepare people when they’re faced with nursing care, thus reducing the number of people who quit their jobs in order to take care of family members.
