Short Bio
Bernat MARTI OROVAL (ベルナット・マルティ・オロバル). He was born in 1979 in Valencia (Spain). From 2006 to 2012, he was an Exchange researcher and Special research student at the Department of Asian Philosophy, Waseda University. He obtained his Ph.D. from the University of Valencia in 2013. He has previously worked as an Adjunct lecturer at the Tokyo University of Foreign Studies, Keio University, and Tokyo University; and as an Associate Professor at Sophia University. Since 2020, is an Associate professor at the Faculty of Political Science and Economics, at Waseda University. His research focuses on Meiji-era thought (especially Meiji Buddhism) and the evangelization activities of Christian missionaries in Japan during the 16th and 17th centuries.
