Future Concept

The Faculty of Education and Integrated Arts and Sciences has formulated a future concept in preparation for the 150th Anniversary of Waseda University’s establishment (2032).

This is a phased concept for the Faculty, and is not something that has been decided by the University. Instead, the plan is to pursue debate in the future and to launch projects as necessary and as appropriate, in accordance with official procedures.

Education Clinic

The Education Clinic aims to make full use of the diverse specialisms of the teaching staff affiliated to the Faculty of Education and Integrated Arts and Sciences, and to help resolve some of the educational problems faced by teachers in the workplace, parents and guardians. Teaching staff and consultants offer specialist advice on the following problems:

  1. 1. General psychological or teaching issues and home environment issues, such as discipline;
  2. 2. Problems related to the content of each subject and teaching instruction;
  3. 3. Issues related to the operation of classrooms, schools or management.

Students also sit in during consultations, receive onsite training and use their experiences as part of their teacher training.

By creating organic partnerships with experts in each field, a comprehensive response is provided from the dual perspectives of academic instruction and student instruction. This response includes “diagnosis”, “response”, “implementation” and “follow-up”.

Main content of consultations

  • • Psychological problems and concerns
    Consultations are provided for nursery-age children, school-age children, students and parents/guardians.
  • • Educational problems and concerns
    Consultations are provided for teachers at primary, junior high and senior high schools, and students aiming to become teachers.

Please see Information on the Education Clinic for details of opening times and how to apply for a consultation.
