[Until July 4th] We are currently recruiting student staff for Waseda Weekly!

Student Affairs Division promotes "student participation" activities that can utilize students' potential and fresh ideas in university management. We would like you to demonstrate what students want from a student perspective through the production of public relations media and office work. We are now recruiting "student staff" who understand the Student Affairs Division 's activity philosophy.

Would you like to participate in the management of Waseda University and change the future of Waseda as a student staff member of the Student Affairs Section Public Relations Desk (Waseda Weekly)? We look forward to receiving applications from Waseda students!

About Waseda Weekly:

This is a public relations magazine first published in 1966. It was relaunched as an online magazine in 2016. As a magazine to support Waseda students, it publishes information useful for student life every weekday during the semester.

Employment Period

September 2025 to end of September 2026
*Start date is September or October (to be discussed during the interview).
*In principle, the contract is expected to be renewed after October 2026.

Working style

・Regular work: In principle, once a week, on a fixed day of the week, for about 3 hours a day (9:00-12:00 or 13:30-16:30)
・In addition to regular work, you will be required to do interviews, writing, and editing (schedule and time will depend on the interviewee, but will generally be scheduled between 9:00 and 17:00 on weekdays)
・Fixed working hours are during school periods (including days when classes are held on public holidays)
・Separate shifts during summer, winter and spring holidays

Precautions

・The 20-hour weekly working limit applies to the combined total of all working hours within the university, not just those in Student Affairs Section.
If the working hours exceed 6 hours, a 1 hour break will be given.
・Shifts will be arranged taking into consideration class times. Since we need to coordinate with other student staff, we cannot guarantee that you will be able to get the shift you want.
-Due to unexpected business or exceptional circumstances, you may be required to work outside of the above hours.

Application requirements (all required)

(1) You must be a first or second year undergraduate student or a fourth year undergraduate student planning to enter a graduate school at Waseda University.
(2) Be able to work continuously for one year without taking long-term leave for study abroad, internship, job hunting, etc.
(3) Ability to use Microsoft applications without problems (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
(4) Ability to communicate in Japanese without difficulty
(5) Not arriving late or absent without permission, and being able to smoothly communicate for the purpose of carrying out work

Welcome conditions

- People who enjoy writing and interviewing and have experience in doing so
- People who have ideas for articles (especially information about campus or the university)
・Those who have knowledge and skills in photography, processing, and video editing
・People who have extensive knowledge of social media and use X, Instagram, etc.
・Those who can speak English and other foreign languages
・Ability to create flyers using design software

Required Qualifications

(1) Curiosity
Candidates must have a strong motivation to be involved with the university's official media and be able to see a variety of tasks as beneficial for their own personal growth.
(2) Sense of responsibility
Be able to carry out your duties with pride as the university's official media. Understand that one careless mistake or a careless SNS post can have a major impact later on. Also, be able to respond to communications quickly.
(3) Flexibility
The ability to sensitively sense what students are looking for today without being bound by traditional methods.
(4) Motivation
Be sensitive to the trends of the times and always strive to improve and update your knowledge.
(5) Power of action
Ability to put together ideas within a certain time frame and produce articles. Ability to carry out work while consulting with others about things you don't understand without fear of failure.

(1) Application documents: Resume, self-introduction letter, interview preference sheet, and "My Waseda Cuisine" (4 items in total)

*For "My Waseda Cuisine," please introduce your favorite Waseda cuisine restaurant, referring to past issues and featuring a place that hasn't been featured before (details such as the taste of your favorite menu item or the atmosphere of the restaurant). Interviews with the owner, diagrams, or images are not required (title + 700-900 characters of text). Please note that the use of AI-generated text is not permitted.

*International students may be required to submit their "Residence Card" or "Permission to Engage in Activities Other Than Those Permitted Under the Status of Residence Permit" at a later date.

Selection Schedule

Applications will be accepted from Wednesday, June 11, 2025 to Friday, July 4, 2025 at 23:59.
July 11th (Friday): Notification of document screening results and interview date
July 22nd (Tue) - August 1st (Fri): Interview (30 minutes between 10:00-16:00)
Wednesday, August 6: Notification of interview results
September or October: Start of employment (to be discussed during interview)

*Interviews will generally be conducted face-to-face.
*After being hired, you will go through the employment procedures and then start work. However, if you have a preferred start date, please let us know.
