What is the power of clothing?
The clothes we wear every day actually have the power to change the world.
UNIQLO, one of Japan’s leading global fashion brands, makes simple, high-quality, long-lasting clothes that enrich the lives of people everywhere. Under its motto, “The power of clothing, the power of society”, UNIQLO contributes to advancing the SDGs from three aspects – the earth, society, and people through making good clothes.
This time, ICC has invited Ms. Yuka Nakano, from the sustainability department of Fast Retailing Co. Ltd, the parent company of UNIQLO, and an alumna of Waseda University, to talk about its sustainability initiatives, such as refugee support, next-generation education, and events focused on peace and women’s empowerment.
Ms. Nakano will share her real-life experiences overseas including Uganda, as well as her broad and deep perspective on the world and how they are changing the world through clothing.
In group work after the lecture, participants with diverse backgrounds can think together about the power of clothing and how clothing can make the world a better place.
If you are interested in SDGs or have a new perspective on clothing, please join us!
