12/2) 【Deadline: 11/25, 9am】Welcome to the simple yet profound world of MANGA translation!

Poster

Japanese manga has become beloved by people all over the world.

Although we speak different languages and have diverse values, we can still be deeply affected by the same stories. This isn’t just about converting words from one language to another; it’s the result of the skilled techniques and creativity of manga translators. By grasping/understanding the nuances of different cultures, they are able to effectively convey the essence of the story in a way that resonates with readers worldwide.

In this event, we are honored to welcome a professional manga translator to speak about the appeal as well as the challenges of manga translation. After the lecture, participants will have the chance to take part in a group activity where they will translate a scene from a manga into English.

This event offers a unique opportunity not only to experience the fascinating world of manga translation but also to reflect on the importance of expressing one’s genuine intentions and emotions in a way that is most easily understood by the others.

Whether you are interested in manga, languages, communication, or simply want to try your hand at translation, this event is open to all—don’t miss out, sign up today!
