Why not pick up a book to suit your mood at the Haruki Murakami Library, a warm yet sophisticated space?
It has been two years since the Haruki Murakami Library opened in October 2021, and it has steadily become a place loved by book lovers around the world.
We want to spread this kind of space to more students and let them feel its charm! We will make this library’s wish into an exchange event. This is especially a must-see for students who are interested in books but have never visited this library!

This event, unlike in the past, will be a “Non-reading BOOK CLUB.” While wandering around the library, students were asked to choose a book that caught their interest based on their sensibilities, such as the title or design. With drinks in hand, share with your group what you liked about the book that made you pick it up! You’ll be able to reaffirm your own values and be exposed to perspectives different from your own!
This is an event that even people who don’t usually read books can easily participate in!
Don’t miss this opportunity! Please come and join us!
- Overview of the event
In this event, we will do three things: a tour of the building, selection of a book, and an exchange time.
★Library Tour
Kengo Kuma, who also designed the National Stadium, renovated the building to create comfortable reading and social spaces. Library staff will show us around and you can relax before the exchange time!
★Selection of Books
You will be asked to choose one or two books from the approximately 2,500 books on the shelves in the library. Ask yourself why you chose that book and think about the reason. It would be a good idea to read the book you chose again after the event. You may also bring in a book from home that you are planning to read.

★Exchange Time
By bringing the book you have chosen to the group and sharing the reasons why you chose that book in a small group, you will become aware of your own interests, and through the reasons given by other participants, you will develop your own worldview. We aim to expand your world.
