A new startup aims to develop epoch-making quantum computers

The quest to develop quantum computers, which are expected to efficiently solve certain problems that are too complex for classical computers, is vigorously undertaken around the world. While various physical systems are used to build quantum computers, they are currently limited to around 10-100 quantum bits, and face difficulties increasing this number to more than a thousand with current technologies.

Prof. Takao Aoki, Department of Applied Physics, School of Advanced Science and Engineering, Waseda University, and his group have been developing their unique technology, “nanofiber cavity QED”, which holds great promise for outstanding scalability against other platforms to realize a large-scale quantum computer. Prof. Aoki has recently founded the company “Nanofiber Quantum Technologies, Inc. (NanoQT)”, focusing on research and development, products, and services of quantum computers based on this innovative technology.

NanoQT aims to be a world-leading company in developing large-scale quantum computers.
