The November 2015 meeting of the IAS Up and Coming Researchers group will be held on November 28th (Sat) 2015 at Waseda University, Bldg. #120-4, Room #405 & 406.
The November 2015 meeting of the IAS Up and Coming Researchers group will be held as follows, and will feature a presentation by Yuri Akutsu (M.A., Chiba Univ. Grad. School of Humanities and Social Sciences). Ms. Akutsu’s presentation will focus on the dhimmi (non-Muslim citizens of an Islamic state), particularly those presumed to be non-elites, as shown in sharia court records from the city of Bursa under the Ottomans in the early 16th century. Cognizant of that non-elite perspective, Akutsu will analyze and investigate sharia court documents dealing with issues of matrimony and personal injury. We look forward to a large attendance. Please join us.
