Takashi Kumagai (Professor at Faculty of Science and Engineering, Waseda University)

The Japanese community in probability theory and stochastic analysis, founded by Professor Kiyosi Itô, has produced many outstanding researchers who have been at the forefront of the field worldwide. Although my own contribution is modest, I am deeply grateful for this honor, which I see as being built upon the long tradition and efforts of my predecessors.
Throughout my career, I have collaborated with many international colleagues who have supported and inspired me. I sincerely hope that the young researchers at Waseda University will build a global network of research in their fields through this Mathematics and Physics Unit of the Top Global University Project.
