As part of the Multiscale Analysis, Modelling and Simulation Unit’s international education activities, we organized an international forum from June 20 to 21 to promote exchange among young researchers by using the online conference system Zoom. In this international forum, 6 young researchers from Japan and overseas who study mathematical analysis of fundamental equations of fluid dynamics were invited to give talks on their latest research results. All talks were concise and easy to understand, even for students in our TGU course. Taking advantage of being held online, this international forum has provided an avenue for students who do not have the opportunity to give presentations through student sessions. During the Q&A session, there were a lot of discussions, and all participants deepened their understanding of each lecture’s content.
One of the advantages of organizing an international workshop via Zoom is that all people can easily participate in the workshop regardless of the restriction of the area. We will continue to provide the students of the Mathematical and Physical Sciences Unit with lectures on the most advanced theories and opportunities for research exchange under the COVID-19 pandemic.
