Purpose of the Symposium

From July 25 to July 29, 2023, the International Workshop on “Fundamental Problems in Mathematical and Theoretical Physics” was held as part of the international activities of the Multiscale Analysis, Modelling and Simulation unit. We welcomed distinguished researchers from abroad and Japan to discuss the latest research results and topics in areas ranging from quantum physics to mathematical physics.
The Top Global University Project, which will end in FY2023, is going to hold a series of symposia to highlight the successful outcomes to date in the seven model units. This symposium was held to showcase the achievements of the Multiscale Analysis, Modelling and Simulation unit under the University’s Waseda Goes Global Plan, an initiative funded by the Japanese Ministry of Education, Culture Sports, Science and Technology (MEXT) Top Global University Project. The Multiscale Analysis, Modelling and Simulation unit plans to hold two international workshops to present the final results, and this workshop will be the first in the series.

This workshop has been held continuously since 2015 as one of the main activities of the Multiscale Analysis, Modelling and Simulation unit. Detail information including records of other workshops, can be found on the achievements page here.

Symposium Report

Minicourse : Quantum Physics

The workshop was held from 25 July 2023 to 29 July 2023. The first part of the workshop was dedicated to Quantum Physics, and consisted of three special lectures delivered by Prof. Daniel BURGARTH from University of Erlangen-Nürnberg, Germany, Prof. Paolo FACCHI from University of Bari, Italy, and Prof. Saverio PASCAZIO from University of Bari, Italy.

Minicourse :  Mathematical Physics

The second part was dedicated to Mathematical Physics, and we invited three Italian researchers, Prof. Jacopo BELLAZZINI (University of Pisa), Prof. Vladimir GEORGIEV (University of Pisa / Waseda University), and Prof. Piero D’ANCONA (Sapienza University of Rome).

Invited Speakers :  Mathematical Physics

Moreover, we invited four researchers, Prof. Yi HUANG (Nanjing Normal University, China), Prof. Nobu KISHIMOTO (Kyoto University), Prof. Kosuke KITA (Waseda University), and Prof. Toshiyuki SUZUKI (Kanagawa University).

Owing to the continuous organization of the workshop, we made an extreme development on the international joint work involving graduate students as well as mutual direction of graduate students on the basis of the cotutelle program between University of Pisa and Waseda University.
We are planning to continue the workshop on our own scientific funds.
