History and Overview

 

1987

April

The School of Human Sciences (Department of Basic Human Sciences,   Department of Human Health Sciences and Department of Sport Sciences) and Advanced Research Center for Human Sciences are   established. Professor Kuniji Asai is appointed as the first dean of the   school.

1988

March

Bulletin Waseda   Journal of Human Sciences is launched.

1990

April
September

Construction of the Sports Hall is completed.
Professor Ichiro Soma is appointed as the second dean of the school.

1991

April
October

The master’s course is established at the Graduate   School of Human Sciences.
Construction of the Aqua Arena is completed.

1993

April

The doctoral course is established at the Graduate   School of Human Sciences.

1994

September

Professor Haruhiko Hamaguchi is appointed as the third   dean of the school.

1997

May
June

The Declaration of The School of Human Sciences is adopted by the Faculty Committee.
10th Anniversary of the school’s establishment.

1998

September

Professor Kiyotada Kato is appointed as the fourth dean   of the school.

2000

September

Professor Eiichiro Nojima is appointed as the fifth   dean of the school.

2003

April

The School of Human Sciences is reorganized (into the   Department of Human Behavior and Environment Sciences; the Department of   Health and Social Welfare; and the Department of Human Informatics and   Cognitive Sciences). The Department of Sports Sciences becomes the   independent School of Sport Sciences. The e-learning courses in the School of   Human Sciences (e-school) are established. Construction of the Students’ Hall   and S Building are completed.

2006

September

Professor Miho Saito is appointed as the sixth dean of   the school.

2010

September

Professor Akio Tanigawa is appointed as the seventh   dean of the school.
