概要
Since the earthquake and tsunami occurred in Japan on March 11, 2011, discussion about the energy policy have not referenced such topics as the broader issue of the influence on industry and the economy. In particular, there has been no discussion at all about the most important issue in people’s daily life, “energy security ”.
In contrast, energy policy is never discussed in the U.S. without reference to the energy security issue.
Considering the situation above, we will discuss following points at this seminar.
* Should Japan consider the issue of energy security in its debate over energy policy?
* Is the energy security issue important enough to be discussed within the international political framework, particularly in eastern Asia?
* From a global standpoint, should Japan contribute its high-level nuclear power technology to the world?
* Should Japan consider the impact of Japanese energy policy on the international community?
